Understanding Thresholds: ECC vs. CNC
The first step in any development is proper classification. Not every project requires a full Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC), but knowing where you fit is vital to avoiding delays:
- Category A & B (High Impact/Critical): These projects require a comprehensive Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) due to their scale or location.
- Category C & D (Minor Impact): Often eligible for a Certificate of Non-Coverage (CNC), this is the "fast track" option typically used for small-scale residential builds or low-impact businesses.
